Description Christoph Anton Mitterer 2015-03-22 19:18:28 UTC
Hi.

Apparently for some reason gnome-terminal (or VTE?) sets TERM=xterm instead of using it's real terminfo name gnome or gnome-256colors.

Since GNOME Terminal isn't xterm compatible, it shouldn't do so or it will break applications, e.g. take bug #579964 comment 6 as an example.

Cheers,
Chris.

Looks like a duplicate of bug 115750

Better to consolidate the discussion in one bug instead of having it scattered all over the place.
