GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 746472
set a jobcode for import session
Last modified: 2016-04-23 20:33:29 UTC
Feature request: I'd like to be able to set a jobcode for an import session to be used to name directory and/or files. The only piece of software I know can do this in linux is Rapid photo Downloader (and Darktable, which does not support EXIF date import at the moment). I'd love to see it in Shotwell as well. I used the advanced search but surprisingly I could not find any bug. I hope it's not a duplicate.
Sounds like Bug 716284
They are indeed related but not a duplicate. One way to think of this feature is to allow the user a chance to name an import roll. The vision of an import roll was more inflexible, though, in the sense that if you perform two imports, you get two import rolls, period. I think Federico is asking for the ability to give multiple import rolls the same jobcode and group them that way. However, I'm not completely familiar with the idea of jobcode and so there may be more to the issue than just that.
I was actually looking for what is described in Bug 716284. Are you sure that the vision of the import roll should be inflexible? The title of the import should be what other programs call jobcode: if I use the same title in different import, the images should be merged in the same roll. I hope that I explained it correctly. However, I don't have strong opinions on it and I must confess that I'm not a real user of Shotwell. I'm just curious
