Description Moritz Balz 2002-03-14 13:19:47 UTC
... in particular

a) if the "Home folder" icon should be drawn on the desktop (I don't need it)

b) where the Trash should be located - e.g., it could be moved to the home dir

c) where the mounted drives should be located - maybe a virtual "drives:"
folder?

If one does'nt need the icons, this would help to make the desktop a little
more tidy.

Just wondering are you using the home folder as your desktop?
Comment 2 Moritz Balz 2002-03-28 01:22:52 UTC
no, i'm not.
the icons shown on the desktop are only "Home", "Trash" and the
mounted drives.
Comment 3 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-04-09 00:52:28 UTC
well ideally you would be able to choose any directory to be the
desktop. and edit the contents using .desktop files. hmm.. actually
this covers alot of different bugs. i'm going to remove the gnome2
keyword since it is not what we would consider a nautilus gnome2 bug.
also I'm going to change the title to "should be able to remove trash,
start-here and home icons from the desktop.

regarding the mounted drives, you should open another bug for that.
perhaps it should be a preference.

Pretty sure these are dupes but I can't find them ATM. :/
Comment 5 Sebastien Bacher 2003-11-22 21:41:57 UTC
Nautilus 2.4 has these keys :

/apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible
/apps/nautilus/desktop/trash_icon_visible

Does it fix the problem for you (the bug report has several points ..) ?
Comment 6 Matthew Gatto 2004-05-14 23:41:40 UTC
1 and 2 cited by the reporter are solved by the gconf keys in comment 5. 3 is a
dup of bug 138930 which just got fixed.
