When using the HighContrast theme, the Search entry (<ctrl>F) ’s number of results is unreadable as it is written white on white.

This problem has been fixed in the unstable development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain that newer version.

On Linux Mint x64 17.1, Cinnamon 2.4.8, this problem does not just occur when using any particular theme (be that theme a Gedit setting or a Cinnamon setting).

I am using Gedit 3.10.4.
