In the new notification list, there's an x icon that is visible on hover that you can click on to dismiss a notification. However, on touch it is not clear (because there's no "hover" at all).

I'd suggest adding a gesture to dismiss the notifications. swiping the notification left or right like on android would probably be the right gesture for this interaction.
