I'm not sure if this is a bug in the app or in gnome-shell, but since I didn't see this issue in older versions of gnome I'm going to assume it's the gnome-shell. Feel free to close the bug if you think it's the app's fault

If there's an xml entity in a notification, gnome-shell should handle it and convert it to a more human readable character, eg. & -> &
