GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 744627
Search provider starts a lot of miners
Last modified: 2015-10-27 09:22:59 UTC
Doing a search in gnome-shell with the gnome-photos search provider enabled results in an unreasonably large number of processes being created, including the gnome-online-miners for gdata, flickr, facebook and media-server. For good measure, it also appears to spawn the dleyna media server, which starts globally listening on some UDP ports for a while. This is particularly surprising because I don't have accounts configured for any of these things. I verified that gnome-photos was to blame by disabling all search providers and doing a search (no miners created) and then doing a search with only gnome-photos enabled (lots of miners created). gnome-documents has a similar bug (bug 744625).
