Description Sébastien Wilmet 2015-02-13 11:33:23 UTC
The platform overview should only explain the available libraries. Having a programming tutorial there is strange. The "GNOME Platform Demos" is a better place in my opinion, especially since we can choose the programming language:
https://developer.gnome.org/gnome-devel-demos/unstable/

If someone is looking for a programming tutorial to get started, what to choose?
- https://developer.gnome.org/platform-overview/stable/tour.html.en

Having different places to get started is confusing.

I do not think that the platform demos are a better place for the "Get Started" example from the platform overview, so I do not agree that it should be merged there.
Comment 2 Sébastien Wilmet 2015-02-13 11:49:11 UTC
Can you explain a little bit more the rationale? I've given some good reasons I think.
Comment 3 Sébastien Wilmet 2015-02-13 11:52:00 UTC
Note that on:
https://developer.gnome.org/

We can read:

> GNOME Platform Demos
> Introductory tutorials to help you get started.

So to get started, the obvious place is there.
Comment 4 David King 2015-02-13 12:07:58 UTC
The platform demos are poorly, so will not be around much longer, as they are growing increasingly outdated.

The get started example is a single, self-contained example to introduce the platform, not an in-depth coverage of the whole GTK+ widget hierarchy.

Ok, I now better understand.
