GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 744136
Wi-Fi name and icon are not shown with unscanned AP
Last modified: 2020-11-12 14:27:16 UTC
Situation: I connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot that is too weak to be scanned (that is, not listed in "iwlist scan") with the "connect to hidden hotspot" button on NetworkManager panel. Result: 1. I received such a notification upon successful connection establishment: * Connection established * You have been connected to Wi-Fi network (null). The ESSID is incorrectly shown as "(null)", that is certainly not wanted. (see attachment 01 [details]-screenshot-notification.png) 2. A white square is shown in place of Wi-Fi signal icon. 3. Wi-Fi name is not shown on the topbar panel. (see attachment 02 [details]-screenshot-panel.png) Additional info: Distro: Arch Linux GNOME Shell: 3.14.3 NetworkManager version: 1.0.0

bugzilla.gnome.org is being shut down in favor of a GitLab instance. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use NetworkManager and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and supported version of NetworkManager, then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (workforce and time is unfortunately limited).
