Description westlake2012 2015-01-21 05:21:37 UTC
After updating gnome(fwiw Debian jessie), the mouse no longer worked as it should. Instead of single-click (left-click mouse button), at times, it would instead be double-clicking.

I've tried to narrow down as to what is responsible but a simple test using the "xev" program shows normal mousing events.

So why does "xev" show normal mousing input but Gnome registers a single click as a double?

I've tried the Gnome classic and Mate desktops and they both exhibit this same problem, so it can't be strictly just a particular Desktop. This problem occurs for any user on the system, the same mouse model (which is a logitech g500) was replaced from another system and the same issue occurs, so I know it's not a hardware issue.

thanks

You might have a super low double-click time. In any case, gnome-desktop is not the place to debug this, as gnome-desktop is a library shared between GNOME components, not a component where bugs applicable to the desktop as a whole are filed. Please contact your distribution for root causing if the problem is still current.
