Geary 0.8.3 (Using the PPA)

When composing an email, typing the body of the email, there is a very long delay between typing on the keyboard and the text displaying on the screen. The composer window will eventually lock up.

Created a new user account in ubuntu, added account to Geary and same issue.

You've been bit by the iBus bug.  Try disabling iBus and restarting Geary.
