GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 742804
Inbox does not show any messages between 2014-12-07 and 2015-01-11
Last modified: 2015-01-22 21:35:42 UTC
Hi, I have a problem with geary's (0.8.3) inbox. It does not show any messages between 2014-12-07 and 2015-01-11. I have already deleted the geary database for my mail account several times; the problem stays the same. Even on another machine the same problem occurs. Another mail client (Evolution) shows the missing messages. I have examined geary's SQLite database and the missing messages are present in the database. So, why doesn't geary show these messages? Just tell me what debug log you need and I will attach it. Stefan
Weird. What timezone are you in? What email server/service are you using? You might try running Geary like this: $ geary --debug --log-conversations > geary.log This will probably generate a lot of output, but it might offer a clue.
Created attachment 294405 [details] Output of geary --debug --log-conversations after deleting the database
My timezone is Europe/Berlin (UTC+1). As a mailserver I use postfix (2.11.3) and dovecot (2.2.15). I have deleted the database for the mail account again and I started geary with "geary --debug --log-conversations > geary.log". I have attached the logfile.
Don't know what's going wrong here. I moved the affected mails into a directory 'test' in evolution. After I have moved them back into my inbox everything appeared again in geary.
Are you saying the problem went away? I'm wondering if this issue is related to the INTERNALDATE problem reported in your other bug.
No, but I found a workaround for that. I moved old messages to another directory via evolution and sometime the messages appeared in geary. When I move these messages back everything breaks again (sorting is weird, messages disappear). This affects 0.8.3 and 0.9 as well.
As per my comment in bug #742930, I believe this also is a symptom of bug #714802. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 714802 ***
