Description chris 2015-01-11 23:01:18 UTC
Hi,

I want to save a file wia Keyboard (for example in gedit). But navigating in the filelist overwrites always my filename after selecting an oher file.

i try many things but it seem not possible to navigating without selecting a file. so you have first to select the folder and after selecting the folder you can enter an filename (alt + n) this is not real practiable because the filename textfield is selected if you open the gtkfilechooser.

HowTo Reproduce:

1. Open Gedit -> Save As
2. now you are on the Filename in the gtkfilechooser -> Type an filename "testbla"
3. type Tab until you are on the Filelist
4. press alt + Pos1 to change into the home directory (if not also).
5. navigate into a folder with files
6. navigate over an file (arrow Up/down)

Exept results:
The filename is not changing until i press enter -> than it should overwrite the file.

result:
the filename change everytime if you navigate over an file.

for me this leed to dataloss sometimes. i overwrite files by accident because i was shure that i already typed an other filename. now i found the problem.

We're moving to gitlab! As part of this move, we are moving bugs to NEEDINFO if they haven't seen activity in more than a year. If this issue is still important to you and still relevant with GTK+ 3.22 or master, please reopen it and we will migrate it to gitlab.

I cannot reopen change to reopen.
Or create a new ticket for all my tickets?
Comment 3 Emmanuele Bassi (:ebassi) 2018-03-06 08:19:03 UTC
Re-opened, as per comment 2.

No need to create new bugs: all open bugs will be migrated to the new system.
