Description André Klapper 2015-01-06 22:52:50 UTC
Not sure how many people/teams really query by OS.

I think that the more choices, the less likely someone is going to go through them, but I might be wrong. Needs braoder discussion at some point.

Filing a ticket here so I don't forget.

In total:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/report.cgi?x_axis_field=bug_status&y_axis_field=op_sys&z_axis_field=&query_format=report-table&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&longdesc_type=allwordssubstr&longdesc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&format=table&action=wrap&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

Tickets created in the last three years:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/report.cgi?x_axis_field=bug_status&y_axis_field=op_sys&z_axis_field=&query_format=report-table&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&longdesc_type=allwordssubstr&longdesc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&chfieldfrom=-3y&chfieldto=Now&chfield=[Bug+creation]&chfieldvalue=&format=table&action=wrap&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

RESULTS:
1. In the last three years, zero reports were filed for:
   BSDI, IRIX, OSF/1, OpenVMS
2. Low number of reports: BeOS, Neutrino, OS/2, HP-UX, Cygwin, AIX, GNU Hurd.

And then stuff like Android, Windows Phone, iOS is missing completely.
If that's relevant. Maybe not.

The auto-OS detection has hard coded values. Just adding more options is not enough, it has to be supported by the auto detection as well.
Comment 2 André Klapper 2018-06-16 13:25:44 UTC
After https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/DevelopmentInfrastructure , GNOME is moving its task tracking from Bugzilla to GitLab at https://gitlab.gnome.org/ as previously announced in https://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2018-May/msg00026.html . See https://wiki.gnome.org/GitLab for more information.

Hence closing this ticket as WONTFIX: There are no plans to work on Bugzilla.
