GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 742425
Latest files opened menu does not work
Last modified: 2015-01-06 21:18:30 UTC
Created attachment 293886 [details] Screenshoot of Latest Opened Files menu (empty) The Gedit text editor have a useful feature which is called "Latest Opened Files". This feature list the most recent files opened on a list after click in an arrow close to the "Open" button on the Toolbar. On my system, I click the arrow to get the list but all that I get is "No items found" where files name should be. After a month of use, I've opened files on Gedit through command line, double clicking on Nautilus and under Gedit using the "Open" button and File -> Open... and File -> Quick Open... menus. Still no recent file appears. DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: gedit 3.10.4-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.47-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity
Did you report this to the bugtracker of your distribution and was it confirmed that this is an upstream issue? (Also note that 3.10 is not supported anymore in upstream.)
Yes https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1320691 I selected version 3.10 because that's the latest verision on Ubuntu. If you want to, I could compile whatever version do you want to.
The application was redesigned in bug 732287 and in 3.14 the "Open recent files" functionality looks like this: https://bug732287.bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=281154 Unfortunately I could not find any other ticket in GNOME Bugzilla about the problem that you describe (searching for "empty recent" and "no items found" under the gedit product). I'm closing this ticket as OBSOLETE as version 3.10 is not supported anymore by upstream developers. Please reopen this ticket in GNOME Bugzilla if the problem still happens in a recent stable release (that is currently 3.14).
