I have installed Gimp onto my computer three different times. I downloaded both the torrent version of the installer as well as followed the link to download it directly. Both times, I install the program, and when I click on the icon to run it, it stops opening when it is searching for fonts, then stops responding, and eventually opens another window to force quit Gimp. I can not even get the program to open past this point.

This step builds the font cache and can take a long time, but it won't happen on every start. You'll just have to wait.
