please transform the file browser in an image file browser, where images are displayed as thumbnails, rater symbolic icons showing only one thumbnail. Gimp is foremost an 2d app, so we need  to see images rather than icons

Sounds like a good idea, but we will definitely not implement our own file
chooser dialog. Wasn't there some new hack in GTK+ 3.x that allows an
icon grid indtead of a list? That would be pretty much it.
