OS Version - Red Hat linux , Solaris 8

gnome dictionary version - 1.100.0

Reproducibility - often on linux ,  some times in solaris

Steps to reproduce -
1) Open any  gnome terminal. Type the command 'gnome-dictionary' at
   the command prompt.

2) Gnome dictionary starts up successfully.

3) Select the option 'Settings:Preferences' from the menu bar.

4) 'Preferences' window is opened and is  started hanging.
