Description Fabian Greffrath 2014-11-05 05:40:04 UTC
Hi there,

currently, eog only shows the first page of a multi-page TIFF document. That's fine, I don't expect it to expose controls for accessing the other pages as well, as that would pretty much clutter the minimalistic interface of the image viewer.

However, eog does not give /any/ indication that the currently shown TIFF image is multi-paged. I expect a message to appear telling me that the current image has multiple pages but only the first one is shown here and offerig me to view the whole document in Evince instead.

Thanks for considering!

 - Fabian

Evince is currently hardcoded for that purpose. However, making this changeable shouldn't be a big change should the need arise.

The error message feels a bit clunky to me, but I can't think of something better right now. Maybe a native speaker has a better idea.

Notify user when opening a multipage TIFF

Show an info bar that tries to steer the user to Evince, if available.
This will work if at least gdk-pixbuf-2.31.1 is used.

This problem has been fixed in the unstable development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain that newer version.
