GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 739532
In MinGW32, checking for gzread in -lz failed in libxml2 2.9.2
Last modified: 2021-07-05 13:22:33 UTC
Created attachment 289841 [details] [review] ${Z_DIR} should not use directly. It needs to check empty or not. In MinGW32, checking for gzread in -lz is failed. But libxml2 2.9.1 checking for gzread in -lz is successed. libxml2 2.9.2 --- configure:12667: checking for gzread in -lz configure:12692: i686-w64-mingw32-gcc -o conftest.exe -g -O2 -I/media/Data2/Gitrepo/rcairo/vendor/local/include -L/lib conftest.c -lz >&5 /usr/bin/i686-w64-mingw32-ld: cannot find -lz collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status --- libxml2 2.9.1 --- configure:12666: checking for gzread in -lz configure:12691: i686-w64-mingw32-gcc -o conftest.exe -g -O2 -I/media/Data2/Gitrepo/rcairo/vendor/local/include -L/media/Data2/Gitrepo/rcairo/vendor/local/lib conftest.c -lz >&5 configure:12691: $? = 0 configure:12700: result: yes --- ${Z_DIR} is empty unless specified in --with-zlib=$withval.
Same issue applies on LZMA support. Moreover, this bug triggers QA checks for cross-compilation environments (yocto), since it touches /lib directory if Z_DIR is empty.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
