Thanks for a bug report. I can confirm this with 3.12.x, the development version works (even has its own quirks too, like bold header names).

The Quoted forward style had included the new line by a <blockquote> element in the composed (background) HTML code, while the Inline forward style didn't have anything for it.

Created commit 3c84270 in evo evolution-3-12 (3.12.8+) [1]
