Description wieczorek1990 2014-10-16 12:35:31 UTC
I get occasional prompts for my gmail password.
Firstly I don't know why they happen. Is this a feature?
Secondly when I fill the password prompt with correct password I am shown another password prompt and after filling the second it bugs off.
Comment 1 André Klapper 2014-10-17 10:03:02 UTC
Why do you think those prompts come from Evolution?
Which version is this about?
Comment 2 wieczorek1990 2014-10-17 11:04:08 UTC
Also the first prompt says my password is incorrect.

$ evolution --version
evolution 3.12.7
Comment 6 André Klapper 2014-10-17 14:07:13 UTC
When are these popups displayed? Is Evolution running?
Comment 7 wieczorek1990 2014-10-17 14:29:48 UTC
$ ps aux | grep evolution
luke 1569 0.0 0.2 869948 20764 ? SLl 13:08 0:00 /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-source-registry
luke 1612 0.0 0.8 1400416 67424 ? Sl 13:08 0:00 /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-calendar-factory
luke 1628 0.0 1.0 938508 81052 ? Sl 13:08 0:01 /usr/lib/evolution/3.12/evolution-alarm-notify

These prompts are displayed at random times.
I have my online Gmail account linked in GNOME settings.
Comment 8 André Klapper 2014-10-17 15:56:01 UTC
So Evolution is not even running; hence this is not an Evolution bug.
Maybe gnome-online-accounts?
Comment 9 wieczorek1990 2014-10-17 20:27:11 UTC
I just found out, that I had less secure apps disabled. See https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps
This may have been the problem. Maybe you should somehow query for this setting and show other message. Don't know if Google provides API for this.
Will report if the issue persists.
Comment 10 wieczorek1990 2014-10-24 08:37:26 UTC
It happened again with less secure apps enabled.
Comment 11 wieczorek1990 2014-11-30 19:26:20 UTC
I guess this is related to gnome online accounts.
Since I've turned it off no prompts were shown.

Eh? "Evolution" could either mean the user facing application, or the daemons from evolution-data-server that run in the background. That is clearly the case here. :)

I think this is simply the old and well-known case of evolution-data-server showing shell modal dialogs.

I can see that this is fixed in versions 3.17.2 and 3.16.3.
