Description of Problem:

Switched workspace (using keyboard shortcuts), and gnome-panel crashed.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. have gnome-panel crash (see earlier submitted bug)
2. start 'gnome-panel &' in terminal
3. after twenty minutes of work, switches workspace
4. Crash

Nothing - what's gnome-panel to do with workspaces, after all?
