Description skarmoutsosv 2014-10-08 15:45:14 UTC
If 'locate pointer' is set at org -> gnome -> settings-daemon -> peripherals -> mouse,
then by pressing the left control key a visual notification of pointer position appears.

This breaks the Ctrl+click functionality for multiple file selections.

I've enabled it using dconf-editor and selecting multiple files in Nautilus works like charm for me. Could you tell us what doesn't work for you exactly?

Where it is possible to enable this feature for my curiosity? It used to be somewhere in g-c-c, but I don't see it there.

You are right ctrl+click functionality works fine in Nautilus

But, it does not work at applications like LibreOffice Writer or GIMP when using File-Open menu, or file chooser opened from a web page using Firefox.

I run Debian testing and UI changes from time to time, so I can not recall if there was in gnome control center or somewhere else. I have tested this setting using dconf-editor.

It's hidden because it's broken. The functionality should be moved to gnome-shell instead.
