Description Nat Friedman 2002-03-06 22:46:47 UTC
To reproduce, start with a clean slate desktop that just includes "nat's
home" and "Trash" wherein Nautilus is enabled to draw the desktop icons.

Open the Nautilus preferences window and jump to the Windows & Desktop page.

Toggle off the "Use Nautilus to draw the desktop" option. The Trash and
Home icons will disappear.

Toggle on the "Use Nautilus to draw the desktop" option. The Trash and
Home icons will reappear, but now there will be two Home icons.

Inspection of ~/.gnome-desktop reveals that a new Home entry was added to
~/.gnome-desktop/.nautilus-metafile.xml. No new symlink is created.

This was encountered using the March 6, 2002 Red Carpet snapshot, which I
guess is 1.1.8.

Looks like fix got into cvs. Now I am not seeing the extra metafile
entry created for home. Could you please check and close this bug.

Comment 4 Luis Villa 2002-04-01 20:28:13 UTC
Closing.
Comment 5 dwatson 2002-04-01 22:30:21 UTC
I still see this bug. I spent the last hour or so trying to debug it,
but I had no luck... :( Make sure you don't have desktop=home when
you test for this bug.
Comment 6 Luis Villa 2002-04-04 13:31:40 UTC
Appears to still be a bug. Reopening.
Comment 7 Dave Camp 2002-05-03 20:28:52 UTC
It looks like the patch to 80731 fixes this.
Comment 8 Dave Camp 2002-05-09 20:47:12 UTC
Hrm, it looks like this can still happen even with the 80731 patch, it
just happens less often.
Comment 9 Dave Camp 2002-05-20 21:20:29 UTC
Between my fix and a libbonobui fix michael put in, this is fixed.
