GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 73770
Drag and Drop fails to add menu items to applications:///
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Repro: Open applications:/// Select an item on the desktop and drag it onto the applications:/// icon view pane. Result: Error "Invalid URI" while copying.
i got to fix this making the vfolder-method accept files with extension .tmp, i'll send the patch tomorrow
Diego: could you post your patch in this bug?
Created attachment 8391 [details] [review] i already sent this patch to alex
Fixed in CVS.
Nope. This is not working for me with today's build. Repro: I open the applications menu, drag a launcher to a nautilus window showing "applications:///Other" and drop. Result: The launcher is not added to applications:///Other. Instead, I see tooltip for the dragged item that sort of hangs around for about ten seconds before going away.
If a fix for this is found this weekend, great; I'll urge release team to accept it. But I won't hold up the entire release for it. Punting to 2.0.1.

Fixed with vfolder rewrite, which can be found on the gnome-vfs-2-0-vfolder-rewrite branch of gnome-vfs.
Why is the rewrite not in the gnome-vfs-2-0 branch?
Because its is still buggy and will corrupt .vfolder-info files in a few corner cases.
