GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 737331
Release promo video for 3.14 does not have closed captions
Last modified: 2014-09-25 17:07:33 UTC
The GNOME 3.14 release video (found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p8Prlu3owc) is fantastic, but it is missing subtitles. I am willing to do the work myself, but am unsure if there are any other requirements (in terms of file format, etc) that I should be aware of. If this is not the appropriate place to ask/suggest this, could you point me in the right direction?
Hi Craig, I added some subtitles now. Thanks for the report. Hopefully we'll have translated versions of them available soon too: https://l10n.gnome.org/module/video-subtitles/ -Bastian
Awesome, thanks so much! Is there some way we can work adding closed captions for GNOME productions into the process?
The plan is to do so, yes. But the video finished quite late this time, so I wasn't able to work on subtitles before this morning. However, it is always my intention to finish the video in reasonable time before release, of course. Hopefully we will have subtitles by release time, for 3.16. :-)
That's good to hear. I would absolutely be willing to help out in any way I can. I can't translate, but I can transcribe. Don't know all the ins and outs of the process, however.
