GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 737063
Background button does not reflect current selection
Last modified: 2014-09-21 20:31:15 UTC
When a background color is selected, that color is correctly applied to the active cell. However, the background color "button" does not change to reflect the color you have selected. It may look clear, but pressing the button will set the active cell to whatever the last color was that was selected. Ocassionally, a color will show up in the button, like a green, but if you select a different color, that color will fill the active cell instead of the color shown in the button (depends solely on the last color chosen).
Which exact version of Gnuemric are you using and which exact version of GTK?

I am using Gnumeric 1.12.9, and I am sorry to say I do not know how to ascertain the exact version of GTK. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 and have not tweaked anything. I am just trying to learn a bit about linux. Attached are 2 screenshots. All the cells with backgrounds were the result of using the background button and selecting different colors. The button has remained colorless, as if I would "clear background" by selecting it.

This might be a dupe of 733350. Definitely a gtk+ abi break.
It does seem to be the same as 733350, described a little differently, but the same issue.
