Description Dariusz Gadomski 2014-09-18 09:50:50 UTC
The same issue has been fixed for GTK+3:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674264

However, there is still a number of applications using GTK+2 and the impact of this is particularly visible while using Firefox.

It has been originally reported by Samuel Bancal
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/959451

Can you please investigate the possibility of backporting the fix for GTK+3?
Link to the original fix:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?id=382d68ff8e5701a10aa8d4f879c46c63c21e075f

Thank you,
Dariusz Gadomski

Comment 2 Dariusz Gadomski 2014-10-02 15:05:08 UTC
I have backported the fix to 2.24 for testing purposes and I can verified that it solves the issue also for this version.

The only condition to have it working with Firefox on Ubuntu 14.04 amd64 is to also apply fix for: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=737777

Attached is the cherry-picked patch.

We're moving to gitlab! As part of this move, we are moving bugs to NEEDINFO if they haven't seen activity in more than a year. If this issue is still important to you and still relevant with GTK+ 3.22 or master, please reopen it and we will migrate it to gitlab.
Comment 5 Matthias Clasen 2018-04-15 00:37:27 UTC
As announced a while ago, we are migrating to gitlab, and bugs that haven't seen activity in the last year or so will be not be migrated, but closed out in bugzilla.

If this bug is still relevant to you, you can open a new issue describing the symptoms and how to reproduce it with gtk 3.22.x or master in gitlab:
