GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 73626
panel crashes on startup (didn't used to). (panel Crash at 65.34.109.68)
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: panel Version: 1.4.0.4 Severity: >Synopsis: panel crashes on startup (didn't used to). >Class: sw-bug System: p120, rhlinux7.2, can't tell you what libc version... >Description: X starts upon boot, but when loading all the gnome stuff, i get the message: application "panel" (process 1309) has crashed due to a fatal error (segmentation fault). everything seems to work fine except the panel, which is just gray and has two tiny (20X20 px?) black squares with what looks like a tan chicken drumstick in the middle. the system used to run fine -- i killed the power once w/o shutting down, and ever since, this error appears. i recognize that my "bug report" might not contain the info necessary to troubleshoot this, but i thought i would submit it anyway, in case it is helpful in any way. the libc version is whatever comes with rhlinux 7.2. i would be quite happy to give you more info if you tell me what/how; else if i don't hear from you within a couple days, i'm going to reinstall (it's just a test/play machine, anyway -- i'm teying to learn linux. thank you. >How-To-Repeat: crash happens upon boot, apparently ever since an unclean shutdown. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2002-03-05 17:54 ------- The original reporter (mupledge@hsc.usf.edu) of this bug does not have an account here.
