Description:
on installation of ,Linux-Mandrake 8.2 beta the mouse fails to work
until reboot.To reproduce it just install 8.2 beta.

This could be a mandrake OS bug, user misconfiguration, X bug, etc
etc.  I'm marking this as NOTGNOME.  

Please resubmit with additional information if this is infact a gnome
bug.
