Description Fabian Greffrath 2014-09-01 08:27:25 UTC
Dear nautilus devs,

I was pleasantly surprised that I was allowed to upload a file to a file sharing service with an upload limit of "2GB" -- whereas nautilus reported the file size as "2,1 GB".

In fact, the file in question is 2,079,841,820 bytes in size. This is about 2,031,096 kiB and about 1,984 Mib and thus 1.937 GiB. Obviously, the web service was talking about "GB" when in turn it meant "GiB" and nautilus was right to use Si-prefixes. Nevertheless, this is confusing!

So, it would be fine if nautilus could get asked to optionally report file sizes in binary units as well as decimal units.
