This bug does not affect the nautilus icon view.
The bug causes text to move to the left, hence makes it a usability rather than a presentation issue.
Bug found under Unity, ubuntu trusty.

Thanks for the bug report.

I don't see this bug in nautilus 3.12, nor in the beta version of 3.14.

Does it happen every time you try to rename a file in list view?

Can you try with different gtk+3 themes (other than Radiance/Ambiance), including Adwaita, the default GNOME theme?

This doesn't happen anymore since the new rename dialog, closing as obsolete.
