I'm running California from git master on Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic) with the default Unity theme.

With recent changes to California, any event with a description is displayed with a black background that makes it hard to read.  See the attached screenshot.  Events without descriptions have a white background and look fine.

Pushed to master, commit 3442b3

./configure --enable-unity must be used to enable this fix.
