GNOME 3.12 -- looking good

In GNOME 3.12 with enable dark theme variant checked, Terminal looks really slick with a very dark background.  But in GNOME 3.13.4, the background is pure black, which looks terrible. In profile preferences I have use colors from system theme checked, so I'm not sure if this is Terminal's fault or Adwaita's.

Sorry, this is actually Terminal 3.13.90 with GTK+ 3.13.7.

Just discovered that the light theme has also started using a pure black background. Also the text is hardly readable.

Er, maybe it's a matter of preference, I'm getting used to it already (though I still think it was better in 3.12).  But the light theme really is a bad problem.
