example screencast

Windows displayed by some applications tend to jump down/right -- from (x, y) to (x+window_decoration_width, y+window_decoration_height) -- every time they 'reappear' (I'm really not sure how to best describe this).

For example:

 * VirtualBox, the window that shows a virtual machine's desktop -- every time the guest's resolution changes and the window is resized

 * Certain programs under WINE, e.g. program installation "wizards" -- jumps every time you click 'Next' to go to the next page

 * Also under WINE, the PuTTY settings window -- jumps every time you go to a different settings page.
