I ran into this problem while running jhbuild for the module gnome-terminal.
This was jhbuild revision 0d4bfb0.

The configure script for gnome-terminal failed when it could not find appdata-validate.

It was possible to work around the problem by adding appdata-tools as a dependency for gnome-terminal.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
