Description Bastien Nocera 2014-08-07 12:15:18 UTC
So that gnome-control-center can offer a UI for them.
Comment 1 Jasper St. Pierre (not reading bugmail) 2014-08-07 12:18:33 UTC
What does this mean?
Comment 2 Bastien Nocera 2014-08-07 12:20:52 UTC
That, right now, they're hard-coded, and there's no way to turn them off, or use other gestures to activate the specific features. The blocked bug has links to the design page for the Settings UI, though design is still required.

Looking at the design page, the former doesn't look like a problem? Letting users turn off gestures individually is easy enough to do, on the other hand allowing arbitrary gestures for system actions sounds like hell for applications ("I reconfigured two-finger swipes to switch workspaces, now give me an option to change the gesture for scrolling in your application") ...

Which is why we'll need design first. Carlos will be handling that with Allan before we move on to writing code.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
