Description D.S. (Spider) Ljungmark 2014-07-31 15:31:04 UTC
Captive Portals currently poison the DNS with long-lived redirects to strange IP-addresses.

Typical example is wiki.gnome.org being redirected to a local site with a self signed certificate, being poisoned in the Guadec venue.

For Firefox DNS cache see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1046819
Comment 2 Pavel Simerda 2014-08-01 14:42:04 UTC
This is also important for dnssec-trigger/unbound plugin and such stuff.
Comment 3 Pavel Simerda 2014-08-01 14:43:42 UTC
In my opinion, the best way for a distribution would be to disable firefox's DNS cache *entirely* and force it to always query a local system-wide DNS cache.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being shut down in favor of a GitLab instance.
We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use NetworkManager and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and supported version of NetworkManager, then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (workforce and time is unfortunately limited).
