Under "Book Options" on the "Business" tab in the "Fancy Date Format" block, selecting the "Name" circle and either "Apply" or "OK" will revert to the "Abbreviation" circle regardless of what the previous state was.

Thank you for the report. This turned out to be a case of copy-paste mess up.

Fixed now. The fix will appear in the next gnucash release 2.6.6.
