GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 733649
nmcli should be able to ask for passwords in the terminal (at least for VPN)
Last modified: 2014-07-24 18:23:45 UTC
Hello, I am not sure this is a valid RFE, but I decided to file it anyway. I think nmcli is a great tool, especially for people (like me) who use remote systems with NetworkManager installed. However, I really miss being able to connect to my employer's VPN without having to worry about exporting X and so on. The VPN in question does not have a fixed password; instead, it uses a combination of a key + a randomnly generated number as the password, so I cannot save this information in a config file. Therefore, when I need to (re)connect to it, I need to type this password every time. To summarize: it would be nice to receive a text prompt asking for the password (maybe when $DISPLAY is not set?). Thank you.
There is already bug 705998 for that. Closing as duplicate. Thanks for your input!! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 705998 ***
