This is fine, but then it does make me wonder if we should be renaming COPYING to COPYING.GPL ?

And perhaps have a COPYING file outlining the licenses for each component?

Yes that does seem like a better idea, I will make another patch to fix that up

Yes, all done. Just needs to be cherry-picked to 1.0 stable branch
