GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 733138
Repeat Mode for video formats (animated gif alternative: gfycat.com/about)
Last modified: 2020-11-14 09:12:25 UTC
Gfy (gfycat.com) is slowly replacing animated gifs on the web with its WebM format. WebM is a video format but since a lot of animated gifs are being converted into the new format, it would be a great convenience for gif makers to be able to preview their gfy (webm) animations within an image viewer that loops the file similar to an animated gif. A repeat mode for videos will behave similar to that of the looping behavior of an animated gif. For more information, the following link compares an animated gif with a gfy and lists the benefits of the latter: gfycat.com/about A repeat mode will help out a great deal when checking for smooth transition from the last frame straight to the first frame of a video. Since gthumb image viewer already allows video playback, hopefully adding a repeat mode to video formats won't be difficult. gthumb version used: 3.2.7 synaptic package manager: 3:3.3.1.is.3.2.7-0ubuntu1
