Description cpur 2014-07-07 13:06:44 UTC
Shotwell worked well several weeks until now: One of my SD cards currently containing 523 pictures and one video. Everything is imported into Shotwell database.

So I expect if I toggle option "hide photos already imported", the view should switch between "Contains 523 pictures and one video" and "nothing new".

Instead the view toggles between "Contains 523 pictures and one video" and "Entries: 493 pictures" so only 30 pictures and the video gets hidden.

If I try to "import all" then the result log says: 493 duplicates not imported.

I tried to import the SD card in a new database... then it gets completely odd: In the new database it toggles between "Contains 523 pictures and one video" and "Contents: 517 photos" (and no video).

I compared filesize, md5, thumbnail_md5 and exif_md5 in PhotoTable of the original database and the temporarily created: All entries are identical.

From the source code, I don't get the clue, on which base the data is filtered when toggeling "hide photos already imported"...

On other SD cards everything works as expected.

Please give me some hint...

Thanks,
cpur

What kind of photos are on this card? Are they RAW format?
Comment 2 cpur 2014-07-08 20:52:57 UTC
There are no RAWs; only .JPG files and the one .AVI file from a Canon 600D. SD CARD was formates directly in the camera.

I can imagine that is's difficult for you to comprehend the situation. Please let me know what additional information you need.I may provide

I just made some more tests: I created a new user and just imported the mentioned SD card once more: new database + new picture directory. Result: The two picture directories are identical (diff -rq /home/cp/Bilder/ /home/temp/Bilder/) beside pictures in first directory from other sources. So there are no copy-errors. But the toggle switch just does not work. Only 30 of 523 pictures imported seconds ago get hidden.

So what's the algorithm for hiding a picture? From the source, I don't get the clue.

I believe that this bug is related to one of my cameras: I tried several SD-cards but every time with same results: Only a few pictured get hidden...

Camera: Canon EOS 600D

Can someone confirm this?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. In my library is 2074 photos and 1 video. When connecting my camera Fujifilm JX 200 or sd card from my camera, 768 photos show me like not imported when already are in my library. Imported is only 362 photos from camera, the other is duplicated. The button "Hidden already imported" is pushed. Formats of photos is jpeg or jpg and movie is in avi codec MJPEG.

Can someone help me?

Thanks

bug 722042 may shed some light on this issue

Hello Federico,

not really. The current Ubuntu 15.04's Shotwell has been installed together with version 2.5.4-1 of libgphoto2, and the bug still occurs.

How to proceed?

Regards,
Chris
