Description Allan Day 2014-06-25 09:27:39 UTC
We've had some evidence from user testing that the bullet and numbered list options are hard to find in their current position.

Putting these option in the text selection popover would make them easier to find and more discoverable. It will also be more consistent, since all the formatting options will be in one place, and it resolves the need to have insensitive menu items when text isn't selected.

Move Lists to Selection Popover

This patch removes menu entries and creates buttons, except it uses wrong icons.

Hi. I'm the person who facilitated the usability tests.

I haven't tried Pierre-Yves's patch, but I would also suggest that clicking this action should start a bullet list or numbered list. Currently, you need to type some text, THEN click the bullet list or numbered list action. (If you click bullet list or numbered list WITHOUT any text selected, nothing happens.)

Hi, just opened a ticket against adwaita to get the symbolic icon I need to push the patch. About the usability point : I agree with this, I will look soon to fix it, too.

Hmm, I finally thought I could simply wrote "* " and "1." to describe both sorts of lists.

=> Keeping the above adwaita bug opened
=> but this one is fixed by commit 437518dc7c35fd6563f435c66e9d0c078dc71b57
