Description Victor Aurélio 2014-06-24 22:07:07 UTC
I think that "type-to-select" would be great that the currently "type-to-find" feature.

For example, what I mean is: I type "t" then nautilus select first file that starts with "t", I type "ty" nautilus select first file that starts with "ty" and so on.

I really hate the actually "type-to-find" feature, some times when I hit keyboard accidentally and then nautilus starts search in current folder.

PS: I think that "type-to-find" (almost sure) isn't the correct name.

Thanks for the bug report.

This particular feature request is already tracked in bug 681871, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

In the meantime, if you just want to select a file in the current folder, you can use the existing "type-to-search" to find the file, then hit the [Esc] in your keyboard, which returns you to the folder, selects the file and (if needed) scrolls the window to display the selected file.
