Description Lasse Schuirmann 2014-06-20 11:58:09 UTC
Selecting a VM is painful. Only way I found:

1. Navigate to the button which activates the selection mode via TAB key
2. Navigate through the VMs via TAB key
3. Select the ones you want with space

Proposed solution:
- selecting the vm via space should work
- opening the right click popover (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/boxes/wires/multi-window.png) with the "Context menu" key (yes, my keyboard still has one :))

I am discussing a possible solution about the tab-navigation-avoidance on IRC right now and will keep you updated.

Sorry for being so inconsistent. ONe of these things that seem only clear to the author of the message.

When you dont enter the selection mode and tab through the VMs then space and enter will start the VM. (It will be selected if you're in the selection mode.)

Well, then: shouldnt we support that? Theyre omitted on laptops frequently was my observation.

It was on gnome-design. I'm currently creating a wiki page about the idea for more concrete design here:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Accessibility/KeyboardNavigation

However we came to the conclusion that I forgot something important: you don't have to iterate through the VMs with the tab key because you can just type and search it. So my original idea, numbering the VMs and have a numeric mnemonic, is not needed. (It also has some other problems but in some cases it makes sense.) I am available for further discussion on gnome-design and boxes right now.

The only left issue with this is that it is only sometimes visible what VM is focused. (In general I think the focus should be a bit more attention-drawing when navigating through elements with the keyboard.)

OK so then there its already implemented and hence need to be proposed.

To state the very obvious here: YES.

You didn't pay attention to my laptop then. :)

I created bug#738761 for context menu to avoid confusions with other issues mentioned here. As we already figured, the main point of this bug is not really valid so closing this now.

I'm not sure what you mean but I tried with 3.14.2 and focus is very much visible with a white rectangle appropriately separated from thumbnail.
