GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 731883
Orca stops speaking when contents of gedit buffer changed
Last modified: 2018-02-08 13:04:25 UTC
Only in Trisquel GNU/Linux 7.0 pre-release versions, When changing the contents of the text entry area in gedit, orca will not speak either input or the character at cursor when moving. One can get contents spoken by moving focus from, then returning to, the area.

That debug.out seems to be lacking a whole bunch of its usual content. Could you please capture another one following the instructions found on https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Orca/Debugging? Beyond that, could you please provide steps to reproduce the bug? Lastly, when you say "Only in Trisquel GNU/Linux 7.0 pre-release versions" does that mean in current versions of other distros you don't see this problem?
I have not experienced this bug in any distro but Trisquel 7.0. They're using orca 3.12 and gedit 3.10.

To reproduce, start a Trisquel 7.0 live or vm session; development releases at http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/ launch gedit, with the included orca running, and type some text. Orca will go silent, until you focus on another app's window or cause the 'save' dialogue to show.
