GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 731550
System status menu's expander arrows have glitchy animations
Last modified: 2014-07-10 12:28:53 UTC
I came across this minor visual bug by accident while navigating the system status menu too quickly. == Steps to reproduce == Open the system status menu. Open any of the expanders present inside. While the expander's opening animation is still going, very quickly close the system status menu *by clicking on the top bar* and if you reopen the system status menu, the arrow of the expander widget you clicked on should be frozen at an odd angle, rather than pointing to the right like it should be. Performing these steps repeatedly makes the arrow point in different directions. Perhaps this could be fixed by resetting the expander arrows' orientations every time the system status menu is reopened? This bug was present in GNOME Shell 3.10.x and still remains in version 3.12.
Here's a screencast of how to reproduce the bug. https://www.dropbox.com/s/s555mg9uc4oe0zt/Shell%20Expander%20Widgets%20Bug.webm
Update: It appears this bug can be triggered also by clicking on the Wi-Fi or Location expanders very rapidly.
Here's a second screencast tested on GNOME Shell 3.12.2 on Arch Linux x86_64. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f4g4j1c2xtzn50e/Shell%20Expander%20Widgets%20Bug%202.webm
Update 2: The bug seems to affect all expander widgets in any GNOME Shell extension I've tested that adds graphical control elements to the top bar (Skype Integration by chriss404 and Weather by Neroth).
