Description Adolfo Jayme 2014-06-02 02:59:57 UTC

I’ve been correcting this in LibreOffice and Xfce. Windows 8 (parts) and Office 2013 are already separating the %. Now it’s GNOME’s turn :-)

I’m not asking for an immediate fix for all and every GNOME module, instead, let’s do this per module, gradually, when time permits.

What happens if the percentage sign doesn't fit in the line? Would it be moved to the next one?

This is a huge amount of work and I'm no really decided to do it, since usually the sign is written without the separation, so I'd rather wait until the change be made globally (marketing, press, shops, etc) before doing it in our modules.

At this momment, wontfix.

No-break spaces exist.

I never said you needed to do it yourself, it is for everyone collaborating in this project. And I am offering my help, of course.

Come on! We are in a position to teach people the correct, recommended way to write it. Microsoft has been doing it already, many newspapers do it already, who else do you need to be moving? That is a lame excuse, sorry.

I prefer to complete translations (both GUI and doc) before approaching this kind of changes. Also, you know that actually there are very few active translators in our team. I do most of the translation work and, if someone wants to collaborate more actively, this is not the kind of task I have in mind to do so. If oyu want to help us, you can ask for a module to translate, or you can work in the ones you requested.

That's your oppinion. This is a very marginal change, with few visibility to the user. Again, it's better to have all our translations up to date instead of this change. And there is a lot of pending work to do with this.
